This Butterfly House is named in the honor of Sophia M. Sachs. You will notice a Monarch sculpture of a 28 foot tall butterfly as soon as you enter the Butterfly House, inside which there are numerous species of butterflies like, the Ruby Lacewing from Malaysia, Blue Morpho from Costa Rica, Gold banded Forester from Kenya.

Inside the house you can also find an interior garden, featuring exotic flowers and plant, waterfalls, and a pond with water lilies. You can find numerous butterflies in free flight feeding on the fruit and flowers. There is also a butterfly conservatory where you can see a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. This is a very rare scene which one can see here.

The Emerson Family Theater inside the house shows a complimentary original film, "The Butterfly Effect", which gives an introduction to butterfly anatomy and their behavior and is a 17 min duration film. In the Exhibit Hallway you can find small wonders, exhibition focusing on the lifestyle and habitat of Arachnids, and various invertebrates. Lopata Learning Lab is a learning site where visitors can know more about butterflies.

The Emerson Lakeside Terrace is a multipurpose outdoor space that hosts corporate dinners, weddings, anniversary, and reception celebrations. There is also an outdoor classroom provided by the Monsanto Teaching Pavilion. There is also a Madame Butterfly Gift Shop, which offers books, educational toys, souvenirs, jewelry, t-shirts, and other unique gifts associated with butterflies and nature. The entry fee to this butterfly house for children below 3 years is free, $4 for ages 3-12, $4.50 for senior citizens, and $6 for adults.
