St Louis is one of the largest cities in United States. it is the independent city in the state of Missouri. The city was founded in 1764. In 1763 the French trader Pierce Laclede traveled to the Mississippi river to find a post for the trade making. He found the post in the junction of Mississippi river and Missouri. The City of St. Louis was found in November 1763, Pierre Laclede Liguest and his traders from the Orleans settled and what is now is called as Walnut Street.

St. Louis was actually a river city, and it so developed in response to its connection to the river. Development, mainly economic development, gathered around the settlement Mississippi River bank on what was known as 'the levee' and now it is called as 'the landing'. The settlement started to increase rapidly after the word arrived that the Treaty of Paris of1763 had given the Britain all the site of the east Mississippi, and in the year 1765, St. Louis was made the capital of the Upper Louisiana.
