The garden is home for various cultural festivals that take place annually. The festivals like Japanese and Chinese cultural festivals help in cultural interactions. All these festivals are held and organized by the St Louis Chinese Days Committee. These festivals showcase various crafts, music, cultural arts and cuisine.

The Japanese festival includes sumo wrestling, taiko drumming and kimono fashion shows. The garden also has a large variety of bonsai plants. People from all over the globe come to catch a glimpse of the plants. The rare and exclusive plants are highlighted during the various Asian festivals.

Saint Louis travel without a visit to the botanical gardens will be incomplete. The Shaw Nature Reserve started in the year 1952 by MoBot. This reserve is used to store plants away from the pollution of the city. The air cleared up later and the reserve continued to welcome the public to view exquisite species of plants.

The people come here for research also. Some budding botanists collect samples and study the plants for their course studies. The study of botany is highly enriched by live samples and specimen. Others come to enjoy themselves in the quiet and serene surrounding. Away from the hustle-bustle of the city, this place has become a favorite among nature lovers.
